WHERE IS THE LOVE?

We may not be seeing too many people wearing DoJo shirts or neighborhoodies anytime soon, based on the reactions of many a JCList poster:

  • DOJO=BOZO
  • Just say NoJo to DoJo. Good blog. Bad name.
  • As you seem to be the only proponent of "DoJo"l...pray tell just what does the "Jo" stand for? If it's for Joisey then that's all the more reason to resist it.
  • A) It is a bad acronym
    B) It is typical for a group of young white people to move to an established area and try to create a dumb catchy name to make it cool. DUMBO comes to mind instantly.
    C) Jersey City already has an acronym JC.
    D) It seams like it is self serving to the person who came up with the idea, so if it catches on they can claim that it was their brainchild. It's just a big ego trip.
  • Really, its CORNY!
Then again, I've already had a bunch of people ask me when I will start offering DoJo merch, so perhaps more than one person out there has retained his/her sense of humor?

  • Yoiks. My only brand competitor is a non-toxic snail and slug compound. I should check out their website; if they have a comments section, I may be getting roughed up over there.

I will buy a "Have You Had Your Do-Jo Mo-Jo Today?" t-shirt, but you're going to have to make sure to have plus sizes.

  • personally, i like it. and i'm not being biased either.

  • You can't survive on the 'net if you concern yourself over stuff like this. People will either like the name or they won't. Just put out a good blog and let the rest sort itself out. Jersey City needs you to write about it, and it doesn't much care what you call the blog!

  • Aww, thanks, everyone! I wasn't fishing for compliments, either. I stand by DoJo Mojo, and if people don't like it, tough.

Sluggo: I'll come up with a few designs soon, and will probably just use cafepress, so the larger sizes should be available.

Vindog: Bumper stickers! I hadn't thought of that! Got yr email by the way, and I'm no bigfoot.

Mr. Snitch: Thanks. I don't know if JC needs me to write about it, the revolution will be BLOGGED, dammit!

Mr. Melt: Sounds like a plan. I just hope Melt doesn't get egged by DoJo haters when they see shirts in your store. LOL. How was last night's party? I still have to buy the book. Do you have any more copies to sell?

  • Dojo, no one hates your list! Don't be so paranoid... I have enough paranoia for the both of us. People have nothing better to do but bash the name "dojo." You really NEED to read Five Finger Discount. It puts things in its proper perspective. When you read the horror stories that took place (all told with dry humor) in dojo, all the stuff you read about on jclist, i.e., dog poop dilemma, Hamilton Park in-fighting ("it's MY garden," - "no, it's MY garden," blah blah), garbage in the street, and yes, dojo, all seem very very trivial and ridiculous.

As for selling your tees, I would be happy to do so on consignment. I couldn't care less what anyone thinks, not that I think anyone will really mind one way or the other.

If you want the book(s) -- she also published "Baby Plays Around" last year which I just started reading -- lemme know and I can hold on to it/them for you. I have to send the unsold ones back to Random House next week. "Baby Plays Around" sounds very cool also. It's sort of about Helene's experiences playing in an all girl rock band for 2 years.

  • Mr. Melt: Hold the two books for me. I'll stop by next week or so to pick them up - just as soon as I get over this flu or severe cold or whatever the heck it is I am suffering from at this moment. Let me know what the total is. By the way, you do know who I am, right?

  • I still haven't gotten the hang of this blog thing.. why do my messages not appear?! Grrr.

Dojo mojo, I haven't the slightest clue who you are. Did I leave my brain cells at home when you came in here?

The books are $24, $12 each. See you soon.
