The Management Company's production of Iizuka's "Aloha, Say the Pretty Girls" is a witty and surreal ride that takes about 15 characters -- including a wild dog, a komodo dragon, and a bunch of piñatas -- from New York to Alaska to Hawai'i and finally to Borneo in search of a family.

Despite a few delivery glitches, the young troupe, under the direction of Courtney Sale, successfully portayed the strangers and lovers who ultimately find their way home through a series of chance encounters and passionate flings. The minimalist stage design and surround-sound effects also worked very well, underscoring the feeling of isolation and quiet desperation amidst the rural and urban noise. Overall, "Aloha" was a hilarious and entertaining maiden production for the Management Co., which promises to stage four shows a year at Victory Hall.

The show runs on Thursdays through Sundays from July 14-31. For tickets, call (212) 7772-6562. Call to reserve early, as the house only has 80 seats. Click here to read Jersey City Vibe's interview with Executive Director Amy Patrice Golden.
